Many of you know me as a ‘fitness’ professional/trainer and personal friend. It is no secret that I am a American Soldier currently with 31 years of service under my belt. I consider this to be one of my greatest accolades in my life. I have had the pleasure of meeting and serving with the greatest individuals I have ever met. I have been given the honor to defend our nation on foreign battlefields. To this I have no regrets. I am proud to call myself an American Soldier. I decided to use a term we use in the military to communicate a ‘change’ or ‘update’ in our operational orders. The term WARNO means a ‘warning order’ has been received to ‘warn’ commanders on any impeding changes or conflicts that will hinder our ‘original’ operation orders. When we are on the battlefield we quickly take notice of these possible issues that could possibly impact our operations and cause us to fail in our mission.
Using this analogy, as Christians, Jesus gave us our ‘operational orders’ too. It was Jesus who said to his disciples in Matthew 28:18-20
18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
As many of you have already heard that North Carolina has passed the law to lift the ban on ‘same sex’ marriage in the state. As a Christian I am sadden by this decision as well. I don’t want take this time to discuss this topic right now. Instead I want to put out a ‘WARNO’ [warning order] to the entire body of Christ. Church please heed this ‘warning order’. The world is attempting to distract the ‘church’ by convincing us that ALL of our core Christian beliefs are all about HATE, SEGREGATION, and PREJUDICE. In doing so, Christians have been maneuvered into a state of ‘silence and submission’. The enemy knows that no Christian wants to be affiliated with anything that represents hate or discord to anyone. I too, like to be perceived as a ‘nice guy’ who loves all people regardless of their personal issues.
WARNO, WARNO, WARNO!!!!! Church, Jesus gave a ‘operational order’ for his church [Matt. 28:18-20] to go throughout the world and make disciples of all men. What I’m about to say is a ‘hard’ thing but it is TRUE. Christians are to take the SAME attitude as God. It says in 1 John 1:10 –
I am speaking directly to ANYONE who calls themselves a ‘Christian’. The reason why our laws and values are ‘changing’ is because those who called themselves ‘Christian’ are NOT committed to the principles of God. People are NOT being made disciples of Christ. Instead people in this country are being taught to ‘follow’ Jesus in name only. People are getting the preconceived idea that the Word of God is compromising and can be adjusted to their personal beliefs. Remember when Jesus chose his disciples? He first ask them to ‘follow’ him. Then as they followed him, they were disciplined by him and then they were given their ‘operational orders’ or as the Bible states ‘sent out’ by him. So as you can see, my argument is NOT about the issues of the day [same sex marriage/abortion/prayer in school].
My bone to pick is against those who called themselves ‘Christian’. Right now my brothers and sisters in the Middle East are being beheaded and tortured for their faith. You my friend will never know that intense moment when an adversary is standing over you asking to choose to ‘deny’ Jesus or die! As I stated before this is a HARD thing for most of you. For some of you, where you stand on your faith will cost you something. It might cost you your popularity. For some, it might cost you your position in the community. All I can say is if you are saying ‘yes’ or compromising the sinful issues that are running rampant in our country today, I have to say, you are NOT a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ! [Going to McDonald’s doesn’t make you a hamburger!]
All of the debaters will argue “if God is a loving God why would he be against ‘love’? As a disciple of Jesus, we are taught, that it is God who ‘defines’ the terms for ALL the issues of life such as love, hate, marriage, forgiveness, conduct towards women, sexuality and the list goes on. In does say in the old testament in Leviticus 19:17 – “You shall not hate your brother in your heart. You shall surely rebuke your neighbor, and not bear sin because of him.
I will say this. If I offended you, then I say ‘great’! If you are unconvinced of my statement then I challenge you to seek God and ask Him to give you a ‘revelation’ into what I am saying. If you call yourself a ‘Christian’, understand always that you are on a mission. Your mission is to become a ‘disciple’ of the Lord Jesus Christ and to make disciples of others. It doesn’t matter what Oprah or the political leaders of our day are saying! People, this mission is NOT hard! What makes it difficult is, as I have experienced in my own military career, is the people that attempt to deviate from the ‘scope’ of the mission and try to ‘distract’ us with worldly issues.
In closing, I will say this, the price was paid for us ALL [who call ourselves Christian] on Calvary. It is with deep respect and gratefulness that we Christians humbly submit ourselves to the obedience and leadership of Jesus Christ. I don’t have all of the answers to why people make the choices that they make. I trust God who knows it all. Our human abilities and ‘small’ brains are incapable of figuring it all out. Truthfully, I’m not worried about the issues of the day. Sin will NEVER succeed for anyone. Do you know of any ‘successful’ sinners who are still living? Jesus has proclaimed 3 prophecies. He has fulfilled 2 of them already[death and resurrection]. The last one is his return. When he returns, he will be coming for his bride of ‘compromise’ [the church Rev. 21:9]. Jesus give out a WARNO [warning order] in Matthew 7:21-23
21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’
To those who call themselves Christian, I say to you “continue the mission, stay on course and never quit!” To those who have been challenged by this article, I say pray and ask God to show you a NEW path. Also seek out the assistance of your local pastor. I am also willing to take your questions and comments via email as well. Lastly, those who call themselves Christian, but are NOT convinced of my position, I ask that you without reservation, to seek the guidance of the Lord and ask him for clear guidance on where you stand as a ‘believer’. The question is simple. Is it God’s agenda or man’s agenda that drives your outlook on life. This article is NOT designed to scare or intimidate anyone. As a Christian leader/teacher it is my duty and responsibility to issue a ‘WARNO’ as well.
My discipline as a soldier in the U.S. Army has saved my life and the life of others when I was in harm’s way. When I was a drill sergeant there was a poster that hung in our office that read: ‘Let no soldier return from the grave and say that he or she was improperly train!’ As trainers we used that statement as our focus mantra to ensure we did everything possible to best train our soldiers for survival on the battlefield. That is why I believe that Jesus himself has well equipped and prepared His church to adapt and overcome this world!
